Ever wondered what a rabona, a trivela or a Cruijff Turn is? Did a football player ever win a Nobel Prize? Can a player be offsides on a throw-in? And exactly how long a regular football pitch is?

With beautifully illustrated pages, FootbALL is a treasure of the rules, the trivia, the moves, the players and the anecdotes of the most played, watched and talked about sport in the world.<img src="http://payload53.cargocollective.com/1/0/24787/3379030/panini_calciatori_rovesciata_1.jpg" width="548" height="345" width_o="548" height_o="345" src_o="http://payload53.cargocollective.com/1/0/24787/3379030/panini_calciatori_rovesciata_1_o.jpg" data-mid="17367787" border="0" align="left"/>

In architectural practice nothing is more cherished than the creative moment – the eureka moment where a new concept, idea, or form is conceived. These are the definitive moments that go on to birth great projects. How much can these moments be related to the particular atmosphere of a studio’s surroundings? And how much value do the architects themselves place on their workspace? Studiospace takes you on a global tour inside the creative environments of architecture studios both large and small to seek answers to these questions.

The book comes in a lush 23x29cm softcover with flaps format, with full page pictures and illustrations and plenty of interviews.

Studiospace is exclusively available here for sale. Please remember to double check your PayPal address after you make the purchase!

Fahrenheit 39
Italian Independent Publishers Book Fair

April 20-23 2012
@ Mutuo - Centro de Arte
C/ Julià Portet 5 - Barcelona

map here

Fahrenheit 39Fahrenheit 39 is a festival that explores the book as object rather than a medium. The book is seen as the space where the work of artists, writers, and publishers intersect. Moreover, the festival celebrates other artistic practices related to edition, integrating an independent publishing fair, with lectures and workshops. Originally held in Ravenna, its name comes from its origin: +39 is the international dialing code for Italy. Fahrenheit 39 is presented for the first time in Barcelona by SHS Publishing, a young publishing enterprise based between the Catalan city, Rome and Berlin. The selection, curated by Emilio Macchia (Jan van Eyck Academie - Maastricht / Associazione Culturale Strativari), contains small editions and unique pieces, mapping the current state and future direction of the design of Italian publishing.

SHS Publishing will also present several house titles. Founded in 2009 by Luca Bendandi and Matteo Cossu, SHS operates on a new creative model, scattering its collaborators around the world in such cities as Toronto, New York, Rotterdam, Milan, Barcelona and Berlin. This way, it creates a network and constant flow of ideas to keep on top of the ever-changing world of publishing. SHS will present the group of creatives through a wall installations describing individual competences and interrelations.

Fahrenheit 39 showcases topics ranging from design, typography, fashion, architecture, craft--such as screen printing, or fixed-gear bikes. During the four days of the festival, conference events will be complemented by live music, workshops, video performance, talks. A peculiar workshop of "book graphic destruction of books" will also be held.

Fahrenheit 39 is a unique event for anyone interested in understanding the future of books on paper after the intrusion of electronic publishing. The festival aims to be a source of inspiration for artists, photographers, fashion designers, illustrators, designers, students and all those interested in the creative process.

Ever been to Thailand? Remember the butterflies? Real or imagined or somewhere inbetween, this exhibition is your chance to revisit the colours, the shapes, almost the sounds and smells, of that lush, enchanted country.

Roosters, tigers, tattoos, noodles...the subject matter is always timeless and universal, but at the same time indefinably Asian. Each piece approaches its subject from a fresh and playful perspective.

These images are produced using a unique technique: it is a fusion of traditional, handcraft approaches, like paper layering, with more modern styles, such as Andy Warhol's blotted line.

These pieces are thus a sort of feedback-loop of the traditional and the modern.
Brought to you by SHS, directly from the hand of Piro, an Italian artist living on the Kho-San Road, Bangkok.

    --------------

¿Alguna vez has estado en Tailandia? ¿Te acuerdas de las mariposas? Desde lo real, lo imaginario o incluso desde algún lugar entremedio, esta exposición recupera los colores, las formas y casi los sonidos y olores de ese encantador y exuberante país.

Gallos, tigres, tatuajes, noodles....

Raw data is bewildering by itself, it means nothing, it scares and confuses. Atlases have been part of our intent to categorize and generalize the world. Human intellect rationalizes the immense continuum of its surroundings by means of categorizations, tables, and timelines.

A book filled with dazzling trivia and curiosities, Julia Sturm's publication could be defined an adjourned Atlas, much like the first ones that popped up in the Age of Enlightenment.

The New Atlas accomplishes its initial idea of embracing our national identities–in their economical, cultural and political aspects– and wrapping them in a fun, informative and immediate way.

The reader is called to reason and confront with personal experience at every data stat.

Have I ever stolen a flower?
At what age did I leave my parent's house?
What would I say if called to speak of another country in just a few words?

Creative infographics interweave with photography and maps.
But the publication doesn't stop at classic data mining, it explores very originally graphical qualities of each country, and other less obvious statistics.

In a world less and less defined by boundaries, but evermore culturally mixed, The New Atlas represents a much needed re-visitation of the old-fashioned all-comprehensive atlas, to envision our countries but also ourselves.

Please send us an email if you would like to see more of the book.

Contemporary Graphic Design from Australia

In recent years, after the national confidence boost that came with the Olympics, Australia has emerged as a vibrant contributor to international culture at all levels, with an impact relative to its small population (nineteen million) that other countries might envy. Standing on the shoulder of giants such as Ken Cato, Garry Emery and Barrie Tucker, graphic design has also started acquiring an original, very personal perspective.

Oz shows the work of today’s best Austalian graphic designers. Completed with interviews and designer profiles, this book sets out to mark the state of the art in the now more than ever vibrant land down under.

A Sourcebook of Shamanic Powers

This video preview is a visual compilation of ghastly masks, all originally hand designed by visual artist PIRO. His work is a surprising pantheon of deities and demons from a hidden religion: their roots are lost between Mayan, Incas, Asian and Pacific spell books to create a powerful new religion.

How ideas become architecture

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/24787/335191/R2R 1.jpg" width="670" height="447" width_o="670" height_o="447" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/24787/335191/R2R 1_o.jpg" data-mid="1464061"  border="0" align="left"/>

From the moment of conception to the moment of completion, the architectural design often undergoes a long and perilous journey. The promise of the architectural model, the glitz and glam of the slick rendering rarely survive unscathed. The difference between the initial competition-winning design and the final built project are often miles apart.

The story that takes place between these points is often one of melodrama and characters bigger than life. A typical story can involve megalomaniacal oil sheiks, bankrupt financiers, fickle changes of taste from clients, public backlash, political crises and more.

R2R promises to unveil these stories from the some of world’s most prominent architects and their greatest buildings through interviews portraying the architects' perspective.

The Architecture of Neglecting

The acts of remembering and forgetting are under constant control and supervision by society. Generally it is remembering that finds itself manifesting into our physical world through architecture (monuments, buildings, etc.). Amnesia will attempt to document architectural projects that have been built specifically to ensure that the act of forgetting occurs. The rebuilding of the Jewish quarter in Jerusalem, the Pantheon becoming a church, and garbage dumps becoming parks are all examples to be found within this publication.

The book will operate with mainly with photographs, maps, and other drawings necessary to explain the particular incident, event, or history that is meant to be forgotten. Projects will also include interviews, first hand accounts, and essays regarding each project.
